The Lurching Vampire was an animatronic sold by Spirit Halloween for the 2010 and 2011 Halloween seasons. It resembled a vampire dressed in a red and black hooded robe with a medallion around his neck. The vampire had his eyes closed as if he was "sleeping”. When activated, the eyes and mouth opened, as it lunged forward while the eyes lit-up and laughter could be heard.

Spirit Halloween's Description[]

"Things that go bump in the night are scary - so is this Lurching Vampire animated prop! This evil creature stands over five feet tall and is waiting to pounce. His period attire and medallion necklace along with his carefully crafted features add to the drama. When activated by sound or motion he lurches forward with eyes alight and mouth moving to utter scary sounds. Creepy, cool and clever, all in one!"

  • Sound or motion activated
  • Indoor or outdoor use

Trivia[]

  • The 2010 model did not come with an adapter and was notorious for its poles snapping after a handful of activations, sometimes only lasting 4 activations.
  • The 2010 model’s poles are twist to lock into place versions, whereas the 2011 models poles are snap to lock into place.
  • Due to the 2010 model’s poles being twist to lock, it was easy for it to not be twisted on right, so it would lurch sideways.
  • The 2011 model’s poles aren't known for snapping. They were extremely sturdy compared to the 2010 model's.
  • The 2010 model has long bendable arms, so you can pose them very realistically.
  • The 2011 model’s hands were ziptied to the chest, and if you cut it, they only gave it 5 inch bendable wire, so it was really limited to how you could pose them.
  • The 2011 model lacks detail compared to the 2010 model. The 2011 model had no fabric behind the head, so if you looked behind the head, there's no back to it, and you can see the mechanisms. The 2010 model is all closed up.
  • Tekky used to have an instructional set up video of the 2010 Lurching Vampire model on their website before they had a YouTube channel. Unfortunately, the video has since been deleted.
  • The 2010 and 2011 models featured differently colored modules, with one being white and the other black.
  • In 2023, the animatronic returned to Fraser Hill Farm and was titled "Cornelius the Lurching Vampire."
