Steven Silverstein is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Spencer Spirit Holdings Inc., which operates two distinct lifestyle retail brands; Spencer Gifts and Spirit Halloween.

Early Life[]

Not much is public about Silverstein's personal life, but it is known that he was born in the United States.

Education[]

Silverstein received his Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University in 1981. He then went on to receive an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1985.

Career[]

  • Early Career
    • While attending and in the years following university, Silverstein worked numerous positions at New York locations for the popular department stores Macy's (1981-1983), and Bloomingdale's (1985-1992).
  • Linen's N Things
    • Upon leaving his job at Bloomingdale's, Silverstein served, ultimately, as President of Linen’s N Things, a once-thriving big-box retailer that is now exclusively online only. Steven joined Linen's, then a division of Melville Corporation, Silverstein held a number of positions at Linen's before leaving in February of 2003. In addition to merchandising; he was responsible for marketing, planning, distribution, store operations, and strategic planning.

Silverstein at 2023 Flagship Grand Opening

    • On June 3rd 2003, Silverstein became the CEO of Spencer Gifts, a mall destination with lots of controversies, and its sub-company Spirit Halloween, a seasonal pop-up shop that was just testing the waters of residential animatronic decorations. Silverstein continued to bring Spirit Halloween to the public every year with more stores, decorations, and props, until it became the world-renowned seasonal store it is now. In 2007, Spencer Spirit Holdings Inc. was created to oversee both companies. The Headquarters for both Spencer's and Spirit are currently both located in the same building in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The building is currently undergoing renovations to make Spirit's animatronics in-house.
